SGIN Urges Strategic Alignment to Accelerate Canada's Clean Energy Future

Smart Grid Innovation Network Canada (SGIN) has released a formal letter to key federal ministers, calling for a bold and coordinated shift in how Canada supports its clean energy sector. Drawing on our experience in international partnerships, regulatory engagement, and energy innovation, the letter outlines six key recommendations to improve the delivery, scalability, and impact of clean energy initiatives across the country.

SGIN emphasizes the need for:

  • A national strategy for clean energy innovation and adoption

  • Unified federal-provincial regulatory frameworks

  • Acceleration of digital energy infrastructure deployment

  • Results-based funding models

  • Stronger international trade support

  • Collaborative, equitable partnerships

These recommendations aim to reduce fragmentation in the current system, unlock barriers to innovation, and ensure Canada’s long-term competitiveness as a clean energy leader.
