Previous Missions
ENLIT EUROPE 2019, 2020 & 2021
In 2019, SGIN proudly hosted a Canadian Trade Mission to Europe alongside approximately 30 Canadian companies with David Beauvais, Innovation Officer of SGIN as lead organizer along with ACOA and ONB counterparts. The purpose of the Mission was to exchange ideas and opportunities to find new potential partners in the Smart Grid and Energy Storage sectors that can work together to solve real life issues in the transitioning clean electricity space.
European Utility Week was an unprecedented opportunity to participate with the Government of Canada in
EUW&PGE, and a unique opportunity for a select group of companies to showcase their capabilities and solutions within the Canadian National Pavilion at European Utility Week (EUW) in Paris. SGIN also participated in smart grid and energy storage roadshows in both London (Smart Grid & Energy Storage Road Show), UK, and Zurich, Switzerland (Smart Grid and Energy Storage Road Show).
In 2020, Enlit Europe (formally European Utility Week) was held virtually on December 2nd, 2020. SGIN was pleased to provide export support services by creating a report on the state of the Smart Energy sector in Canada. The article was used for the promotion of the Enlit Milan 2020 virtual event and was made accessible for SGIN members. The report covered topics from electricity markets in Canada, commentary on the key drivers in Canada for the need of smart energy solutions, an overview of the federal programs supporting smart energy work and more.
In 2021, SGIN had the intention to lead a mission of 10-15 Canadian companies and energy sector stakeholders to explore business opportunities in the renewable energy systems sector in Italy and other European markets by participating in Enlit Europe Conference and Trade Show in November 2021. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, and Public Health and Provincial restrictions, SGIN made the decision to withdraw from attending the in-person event.
