Canadian Trade & Learning  Mission to Smart City Expo World Congress 

November 5-7, 2024 

Barcelona, Spain 

Activity: 

The Smart Grid Innovation Network Canada (SGIN) is seeking interest in a mission of Canadian companies and energy stakeholders to the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) in Barcelona, Spain.  

This is a unique opportunity for a select group of SMEs and organizations to understand this market, seek partnerships and showcase their capabilities and solutions to an international audience made up of key decision- makers and professionals at Smart City Expo World Congress. Beyond the 3-day conference event, SGIN delegates will engage in a full weeklong agenda including smart energy site visits, networking events, and additional business opportunities!

Held in Barcelona since 2011, Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) is the world’s biggest and most influential event for cities and urban innovation. Leaders from global companies, governments, and organizations gather to move cities towards a better future. SCEWC collects urban innovation across the globe and empower cities to face the critical challenges the world faces today.  

  • Showcase Canadian companies’ expertise and capabilities to foster international business opportunities. 
  • Partner and prospect identification (identify potential clients or partners, establish business and/or research connections. 
  • Knowledge gathering (engage with opportunities and share learnings, strengthen relationships). 
  • Market research (identify potential opportunities, market dynamics, competition, risks associated with new business environment). 
  • Relationship building (B2B meetings with potential partners/clients, explore new relationship opportunities). 
  • Trade show and conference (network at a conference, learn about industry developments).
  • In-market country and trade mission briefings.  
  • Three full days at the Barcelona conference. 
  • Site visit program before and/or after the conference. 
  • Access to exhibition floor (all delegates) and Canadian Pavilion booth space (optional). 
  • Support from the Trade Commissioner Service. 
  • Pre-event webinars and B2B sessions. 
  • Business networking events and relationship building with other Canadian delegates.  
  • Receive pre-mission support and information to prepare for in-market activities. 
  • Benefit from a dedicated mission agenda, and coordination support.
