QUEST Canada and the Smart Grid Innovation Network Canada sign collaborative agreement to build stronger, more resilient communities, and advance Canada’s net zero goals

July 2023 – QUEST Canada and the Smart Grid Innovation Network Canada (SGIN) announce a collaborative agreement aimed to strengthen the collaboration between the two national organizations.

In Canada and globally there is increasing focus on communities playing a leading role in creating jobs while contributing to a diversified, resilient, and low-carbon economy. Canada has many untapped opportunities in smart energy solutions, electricity infrastructure, and sustainable buildings. Accelerating the pace of change is critical to achieving net zero while building new economic opportunities and a long-term resilient future for the country. QUEST Canada and SGIN share common values and goals, recognizing opportunities for mutual support, including:

  • Engagement with communities to raise awareness of net zero goals.
  • Fostering the development of smart energy communities.
  • Accelerating the adoption of clean energy solutions by enabling implementation.
  • Enhancing local capabilities for planning the transition to a low-carbon economy.
  • Supporting capacity building and awareness through workshops and training.

On this new collaboration, Greg Robart, CEO of the Smart Grid Innovation Network Canada said, “I believe collaboration empowers us with knowledge, fueling our ability to serve communities and propel them towards their net-zero goals. We look forward to working with QUEST Canada to drive Canada’s transition towards a clean energy future and explore the approaches that link community engagement and implementation activities.”

Tonja Leach, Executive Director of QUEST Canada said, “It’s QUEST Canada’s priority to dramatically increase the number of communities in Canada that are building the capacity and ability to implement net-zero emissions strategies. We recognize that this acceleration is only possible through partnership and collaboration, which is one of the many reasons why we’re excited to work with SGIN to support communities on the pathway to net-zero.”
