SGIN Finance Committee – Accepting New Members

The Smart Grid Innovation Network Canada is currently accepting new SGIN Members to join our Finance Committee.


The purpose of the Finance Committee is to advise the SGIN Board in fulfilling its obligations and oversight responsibilities relating to financial planning and management of the Smart Grid Innovation Network Canada Inc. (SGIN).  

Duties and Responsibilities  

Subject to the powers and duties of the Board, the Finance Committee will perform the following duties:  

  • Contribute to annual budgets and multi-year financial plans (as necessary) and present to the Board.  
  • Support the management of financial performance against the budget and report any significant variations to the Board.  
  • Review the quarterly and annual financial statements.  
  • Determine SGIN’s approach for financial administrative operational plans.  
  • Support the CEO in assessing overall financial health and performance of SGIN and make recommendations on improvements, adjustments, or procedural changes.  
  • Action recommendations agreed to by the Finance Committee on behalf of SGIN.  


The Finance Committee meets quarterly. Additional meetings may be held as deemed necessary by the Finance Committee Chair or as requested by any Finance Committee member or the External Accountant / Auditor.  


The Finance Committee Chair will report its activities to the SGIN Board each quarter.
